Our staff and Board of Directors share a collective passion for the mission of Cahoots Theatre and its ongoing evolution. Our full-time team is tiny-but-mighty.
Cahoots is co-led by Tanisha Taitt and Lisa Alves. Taitt assumed the role of Artistic Director, succeeding Marjorie Chan, in October 2019. Alves was appointed to the re-conceived and renamed role of Managing Producer, succeeding Kat Horzempa [formerly General Manager] as the company's administrative lead in April 2020. The company welcomed Samantha Vu to the core team as Producer in July 2022.
Cahoots is, however, far more than the three people who comprise our staff. We could not do what we do without the magnificent facilitators, dramaturges and others whom we engage to run to our programs and to guide our incredible artists in the bringing of Cahoots programming to fruition. And the artists... the artists... they are the reason.
"I feel incredibly blessed to co-lead a company that invites me to bring my ideals to the table everyday. I believe with every fibre of my being in empathy, in justice, in the power of art to transform or transcend the things that wound, and in the constant pursuit of bravery and truth. I also believe in spending my days working with people who make waking up on the hardest mornings easier to do. There is a current of tenderness here, even in the moments when we stumble, that makes me feel unafraid to get back up." - Tanisha Taitt
"Cahoots is home. I'm excited to come to work every day and share this home with phenomenal theatremakers and continue to lead with care and compassion. I love Cahoots and I love the community around it." - Lisa Alves
"I am overjoyed to be working at Cahoots and to be reunited with Tanisha and Lisa, two of the most caring and spectacular theatre creators in Toronto. I am so excited to be able to support Cahoots' mission and all the artists in the upcoming season! As they say in Calgary...YAHOO!" - Samantha Vu
