Geraldine Fuenmayor

Geraldine Fuenmayor is a Venezuelan-Canadian artist finding her voice through playwriting, acting, directing and storytelling. As a playwright, she started her path writing short pieces for collective creations in ExpresArte Theatre Club in 2015. In August 2021 she completed her first script for a play called “Nardos, Jengibre y otras esencias”. In October 2021, she obtained a grant to write a play to increase lesbian visibility, under the mentorship of Alberta Playwright Network. In November 2021, Geraldine participated in a workshop called “Uprooted” with Handsome Alice Theatre, writing, and performing a short piece called “In and Out of the Closet”. Her work has been influenced by her Latin American heritage, and by being an immigrant and a minority in many dimensions of life. Diversity, inclusion, multiculturalism, and immigration are dominant in her pieces. Her artistic work is her contribution to a more tolerant, emphatic, and inclusive society in Canada.
